Having seen this pub on various Instagram stories we decided to give it a try today. Booked a table for 3.30 and arrived a little early. The village is pretty,... read more the pub itself looked lovely and we received a friendly welcome. We were seated straight away and drinks orders taken. A few minutes later our food order was taken. I opted for the lamb shank roast dinner, husband went for the steak pie, daughter the chicken breast roast dinner and my son chose the burger. The kids picked some loaded potato skins to share as a starter. Our drinks arrived quickly and we sat back to wait for our lunch. We’d been for a long walk on the beach so were all ready for some lunch. We waited a very long time for the starter, about 50 minutes. During which time the table next to us had to send back their sharing platter Sunday roast. They said it was cold and the meat was dry. They were offered alternative food and complimentary drinks. The starter arrived and the kids both enjoyed it. Although I did not think some potato skins with cheese sauce and spring onions was worth £12. It took another 20 minutes before our main courses arrived. Nobody came to check if we needed more drinks at any point. We requested a Diet Coke and I had to go to the bar to chase it up as it never arrived. Main courses were rather underwhelming. My husbands pie was on a small amount of mash and a few spring greens £19. My lamb shank was lovely but the veg was limited. 2 small and quite dry roast potatoes, mash and greens with a Yorkshire pudding. My daughters was the same. Lovely chicken breast but limited veg. The pictures I saw on Instagram showed parsnips and carrots, we never received any. We ordered sides of cauliflower cheese and pigs and blankets. The cauliflower cheese was dry, no cheese sauce just melted on top. My son picked his burger up and went to take a bite and it was extremely undercooked. He sent it back and asked for it to be cooked more. His meal was redone and brought back about 10 mins later. They said they would knock the price of the burger off the bill. We ordered 2 deserts. A creme brûlée and a chocolate bomb. Deserts were both ok, but not worth £9 each. We paid the bill and left. I wouldn’t return. The service was very slow and it wasn’t one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had 😟.
